A Double Birthday!

Exactly two years ago I published my first post here on the Little Green Box blog. Exactly 31 years ago I was born. This is a double birthday!

On this festive occasion I would like to thank all my readers around the world. I appreciate every single one of you, whether you’re following the blog regularly or just popping to say “Hi!” once in a while. Your visits here on the little green box, your supportive comments and emails and your pins on Pinterest – it all makes me so happy! You guys give me the encouragement to create, the motivation to try new things and the courage to share it with the world. I’ve learned so much in the past two years, and I have you all to thank.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now, how about some candy for my awesome readers?

As it is quite customary to have some sort of Blog Candy on a blog’s birthday, I would like to offer this original gift from me:

I will make you a personal one-of-a-kind pop up card, inspired by your ideas!

So, what do you need to do to take part in this blog candy? So easy, it’s piece of cake (Yes, a pun…):

1. Write down a comment to this post, telling me about a fun or special birthday you had! [Comments will be accepted until Saturday 31st.]
2. Wait for the raffle next Sunday, April 1st 🙂

The winner should send me an image of any sort (an artwork? a travelling photo? a graphic pattern?…), and I will create a unique pop-up inspired by that image.

I wish you, and myself, a creative year, with more ideas and fewer things to hold you back. I wish for a year of innovation and many new friends, as supportive and as wonderful as you guys.

Kisses,

ShirA

PS – Check out what my husband bought for my birthday!!! I’m crazy in love! (and with my husband as well)

Laura’s Quilt

I met Herbert in Laos, many many years ago. It was in a tiny village on a river’s bank. I was heartbroken at the time, sad and silent and quite a bad travelling companion. Nevertheless, he thought I was amusing and nice, and we became friends. We’ve been in touch ever since, I even visited him at his home in Switzerland a few years ago. Years went by, Herbert met and married the lovely Martina, and about a year ago they had their first baby daughter – Laura Adina.

I’ve never met baby Laura, but in the photographs she looks like the funniest, sweetest little thing. I was so happy for Herbert when she was born, I couldn’t put it in words. I kept telling him “I’m making something special for Laura!”, month after month. So far I failed to deliver. At first, when she was born, I was very busy with work; then, I didn’t buy enough fabric; then, busy again… When I finally sat down and sew (NOT my strongest skill), it took me forever to get it done.

Well, now It’s done. I made it. I’m proud to present – Laura’s quilt!

As it took me so long to complete and she’s not a tiny baby anymore, I figured I’d make the blanket large enough to fit a toddler’s first “grownup” bed.

There’s (obviously!) a card that comes with the quilt: The front has the same triangular pattern as the quilt, the inside is popping with hearts :).

I hope she’ll love it!

Mother’s Day Pop-Up Card

About two weeks ago it was Mother’s Day here in Israel. I made my Mom this butterfly pop-up card, in warm coral color. I really love it! 🙂

The basic mechanism is just like the popping heart tutorial I made last year. I hand cut the wings so it’ll be airy and pretty.

Have a great week!

Robot Bookmark

Wrapping up Robot Week, I have to say I had lots of fun! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out my last few post to see some robotic paper projects. For the last project of this festive week I made this bookmark, decorated with a little robot on top. I used the “White Days” paper collection, you can read more about it here.

This week we celebrate Purim here in Israel, and if you know me, you know it’s a very big deal! Have a look at my last year’s costume (:

Have a great week and happy Purim!
